About

Lisa Bayley lives and works in Red Wing with her husband and two children, Nora and Nick, who both attend Red Wing High School. Raised in Rochester, Bayley has lived in Red Wing for over a decade.

Previously, Bayley was a criminal prosecutor in the Hennepin County Attorney's Office, where she prosecuted adult violent felonies. In 2005, she began working with the Wabasha County Attorney's Office and handled criminal and child protection cases, as well as advised the Wabasha County Board. Since, 2009 she has operated her own private practice, Bayley Law, LLC in Red Wing, specializing in child protection, criminal defense and family law. Throughout her private and public legal career, she has worked in courtrooms all over the region and has a deep appreciation for the public safety and social services concerns of people from across Greater Minnesota.

For the last eight years, Lisa Bayley has served the people of Red Wing on the City Council, including as the most recent past president. As Councilperson, Lisa served on the Housing and Redevelopment Board, working to build affordable housing for local families. She will bring her experience balancing budgets and keeping taxes reasonable to the state legislature.

Lisa Bayley attended Harvard College (B.A. 1989) and Georgetown Law School. She was a Public Interest Law Scholar, graduating in 2000. After graduation she clerked for the Hon. Michael J. Davis, U.S. District Court of Minnesota. She worked in the Environmental Law Group for the law firm of Leonard, Street and Deinard, before moving to the Hennepin County Attorney's Office.

In her spare time, Bayley is an avid swimmer, loves to cook Italian food and tries unsuccessfully to keep the deer from eating her hosta plants.

Issues

A Minnesota native, former criminal prosecutor and Red Wing City Council Member, Lisa Bayley knows Minnesota is a special place to live, work and raise a family. In the State House, she’ll work hard to grow our economy, so everyone has the opportunity to succeed.

Grow and Create Jobs: Lisa believes that to move Greater Minnesota’s economy forward, we need a comprehensive transportation plan that fixes our crumbling roads and bridges. She knows our small businesses must have a safe and reliable infrastructure to expand and create jobs.

Invest in Education: A mother of two, Lisa knows a first class education is key to making Minnesota a place of innovation. She’ll fight to increase funding for early and K-12 education and supports plans to allow students to refinance college loans and reduce debt.

Work for our Seniors: As an attorney with a family law practice, Lisa sees the lack of care our seniors are receiving and the need to increase housing and assisted living choices. In St. Paul, she’ll cut through the red tape and work to ensure seniors have secure, affordable options in retirement, right here in our community.
